Date with the Seniors at Wooden Spoon- Rockwell

I had a date today!

Date with my Senior Citizen Friends!

I was with Tita Tess, Tita Josie, Tita Mita and PD. Too bad Tita Butchie was not able to join us this time.

We had lunch at Wooden Spoon - Rockwell.

I loved the Red and Century Egg Salad!

I am going to recreate it at home and maybe eat it with grilled or smoked fish!

Crabmeat Pancit

Crispy Shrimps with Aligue Sauce

Adobo Flakes

Bicol Express

We had our dessert at Sugarhouse.... Canonigo, Sugar-free Apple Pie and Chocolate Truffle cake.

Our monthly get-together usually takes several hours!

The Seniors never run out of stories!

Hahahaha

Mainly because they are always having senior moments!

They already told the stories several times in the past.

My Senior friends are great company. I learn so much from them about life and LOVE!

Photo Streaming

I've been having photo streaming problem between my phone and my ipad. I was not able to post this past few days. Hopefully, it was not because of the ios7 upgrade.

My friends and I visited the new Sm Jazz Mall at the corner of Jupiter and Reposo. The SM Hypermart is already open! I enjoyed going through aisle per aisle. The place was very clean and cold!

In their mini fast food .... I saw Cebu Lechon Belly!

The first outlet is at Parkmall in Cebu. Now they have different branches in Metro Manila.

I also saw Pao Tsin, Hen Lin, Roasting, Bakery and Lotsa Pizza! It's one of my favorite pizzas because it reminds me of 3m pizza.... The pizza of my childhood!

Soon to open are Vikings, Sandwich Shop, Slappy Jack, Wendy's.....

Spring by Ha Yuan!

They have good cua pao and fresh spring rolls.

Brasas!

I love their Potato Chips there! I cannot wait to try out the place with my Junk(ie) Food Friends!

Hahaha we should call ourselves, JFF a.k.a. Junkie Food Friends!

Mango Tree Cafe!

I wonder if it is the same as the Thai Resto in BGC High Street?

The place has a lot of possibilities! I hope all the restos open soon!

I haven't been cooking anything new.... Just my usual.

My new dentist ordered 3 kilos of Chicken and Pork Adobo last Saturday!

Whew! That was tiring work. I hope he and his guests liked it.

My cravings for the weekend....

Nachos, homemade salsa and cheesy beef dip.

Hacienda Macalauan Live Yoghurt

Filipino Bistek...

I used white onions but I prefer red onions.

I made Pancit Bihon.... Cooked in F-A-T!

My JFF and I love the cheese curls from the Comfoods Building. I did a research and it is the same as Big Munch Cheese Puffs!

Good news! It is wheat- free because it is made from Corn!

Tricia said even though it is wheat-free, it is still junk food so we should consume in moderation only. But it is comforting to know that if we want, we could eat it!

The Wriggly Chronicles

Wriggly gave me a scare tonight! Well, I suppose everybody knows his bad habit of going up the table.

He did it again tonight! Then I heard a crash and my baby took a bad fall! He was crying out loud and was lying on his side in pain! I was in tears while trying to look and feel for broken bones at the same time admonishing him not to go up on the table again!

I was massaging his body gently because I didn't know the extent of his injuries. I helped him stand upright and my baby was limping!!!! I massaged him again and I was able to breathe easily when he was not limping anymore.

Then...... I knew he was feeling better when I saw him messing with the brown paper bag which fell on the floor.

Thank Goodness he is stronger now because of the Vitamins B1, B6, B12 he has been taking. Happy's Vet husband prescribed it to him.

Wriggly! You have to take better care of yourself! We want you to reach your 15th birthday on October 18!

Canned Tomato Salsa

I'm still on my Nacho Fever obsession. I already consumed 3 bottles of store bought salsa in a week! I researched the internet and found a very easy recipe and took about 5 minutes to make it! I just added a few ingredients to suit my taste.

Canned Tomato Salsa

1 can 400 gr. whole peeled tomatoes and juice

1/4 C. Red onions, chopped

2 T. Wansuy, chopped

1 t. Salt

1 t. Sugar

Half a lime, juice of

1 jalapeƱo pepper, deseeded and chopped

1 clove garlic, chopped

Put all ingredients in a blender and pulse for a few seconds. Transfer into a bottle and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.

*If you want it a bit "Chunky", add 1 can of diced tomatoes to the chilled salsa.

My neighbors and I had a "Girls Night Out"! Tricia and Shey joined Mona and I for a wheat-free junk food galore!

Cheesy Puffs!

I bought it at the food fair in Greenbelt 1. I sent a message to Mona on FB: Mona! I have pasalubong for you! Just pray I do not finish it all before I get home! Ha hahahaha!

I let them try the DECS Special Sio Mai.

It is not wheat-free but the wrapper is very thin. I loved the Sio Mai!

We had Tricia's Cheese Beef Dip! Perfect with the Nachos she got from Salcedo Market. She also brought Sweet and Salty Camote Chips. Shey brought extra nachos as well in case we run out!

The Wriggly Chronicles

As soon as Tricia and Shey left, Wriggly jumped up on the table!

I told him:

No, Wriggly! You can't have Gilbey's Gin!

Happy Birthday Yaya Hermie!

My friends and I celebrated the birthday of Yaya Hermie today!

She is camera shy.... Hahaha... told us, we should have taken her picture while she was still wearing lipstick. Earlier in the day, she renewed her Bel-Air ID and Yellow card.

I brought home CNT Lechon from Cebu. She liked the Sinigang Na Lechon we had last month. So that was what I cooked for her.

Jing and Mona were our guests and I let Jing try my Pad Thai.

I still have Paksiw na Lechon in the freezer and heated a serving for them.

I wanted to show-off and cook the rice in my heavy-duty pastry cooking pot instead of the rice cooker.

Mayette taught me how to cook rice. I did not even measure the water!

And look!

The rice did not stick to the bottom of the pot!

The merienda I prepared for Hermie was Pancit Bihon.

Can you see the "glistening" Pancit!?!

I added my precious liquid gold (lechon Kawali drippings) before serving it.

Mona was the one who seasoned the stock for the Pancit.

Her gift to Hermie was the Cheese Pichi Pichi from Amber's.

Jing gave Hermie Toblerone chocolate.

Kuya ordered Amber's Pork BBQ! I forgot to take the picture of the whole lot.

Everybody loves Hermie!

I announced in FB it's her birthday today and there were many well-wishers!

I thank God that He has gifted me with someone who cares about me very much!

I have many quirks and idiosyncrasies... I am very spoiled and she puts up with my craziness!

The Wriggly Chronicles

I think in his little way.... Wriggly loves Hermie too!

Ha hahahaha They have a love and hate relationship.

Hermie would let him out in the yard but he would do his "business" inside as soon as he enters the house or after Hermie mops the floor!

He loves to play "hide and seek".... When Hermie is not looking, he would jump on top of her dining table and steal her food!

I remember one Christmas, I gave Hermie a plateful of Lechon... And when she got back to her kitchen.... The food was gone! Hahahaha....

But... when I am out of town and Wriggly would not stop barking or crying, that's when Hermie allows him to sleep on her bed!

Nacho Fever

I started with the Nacho Fever last week when Lisa showed me her Tostitos Salso con Queso and Restaurant Style Nachos.

I bought my own Tostitos Salsa con Queso but I wanted more "kick" so the next time I had it... I mixed the Old El Paso Taco Sauce with the cheese sauce.

I ate it with the nachos Tricia got me from Salcedo Market.

Pure Corn Nachos! Thank you!!!!

Perfect for someone who is following the wheat-free lifestyle.

Then today, Tricia gave me Spicy Cheese Beef Dip!

Perfect with the new La Costena Salsa I bought in SM.

I could not stop eating! I re-heated one plateful of nachos in the oven toaster!

The Wriggly Chronicles

Apparently, I was not the only one who had Nacho Fever! Someone was begging me!

But I did not give him.... So when I turned my back to get ice from the freezer.....

Aha!!!!!!!

He just licked one nacho. I was able to save my dinner!

Mona's Birthday Celebration with Family and Friends

Mona celebrated her birthday today with family and friends at their house in Alabang Hills.

We have been discussing her menu for weeks! I was just telling my friends earlier that my favorite is simple Filipino but delicious food. It makes me happy especially when eaten with friends with the same palette.

Mona and I opted for something we know would delight our friends.

Adobong Alimango

Mona ordered from me. Tita Letty, the original Adobong Alimango Queen, said my version passed the test! She said it was very good! Yay!

Cebu Lechon Sinigang.

She brought home CNT Lechon from Cebu.

Pork Embutido

She got the recipe from my blog. I loved it! She even added olives and used cornstarch instead of flour as a binder so I could eat it! Yum! Yum! Yum!

Crispy Hito

Our special request. We love the way they fry it.

Mona even made a dipping sauce for the fish - ampalaya and tomatoes. Perrrrrrrfect!

Pancit Bihon for long life.

Burong Manga

My version of Aligue rice.

I scooped the aligue bits on top of the garlic rice and squeezed kalamansi on it. I had 2 servings of my specially blended rice!

Dessert

Leche Flan

Sans Rival baked by Tita Letty

Costa Brava Mocha Cake

I was so full, I wanted to eat more but I was holding back! I almost did not make it to the luncheon. I woke up with a very bad case of Vertigo! I took Serc 16 mg. and Jing said it will help if I take a Cold shower. True enough, it did.

Happy Happy Birthday, Mona!

Wishing you the best of life and for more food adventures with you!

We all love you!
