Beef Pares

I experimented with Beef Pares last night.  I browsed the net and asked Tricia neighbor how to cook Beef Pares.  It turned out ok!

Will share the recipe.  Super easy!

Beef Pares

1/2 K. Beef brisket cut into cubes
2 T. cooking oil or beef fat
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 inch knob of ginger, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/4 C. Coconut brand soy sauce
1/4 C. white sugar
2 pcs. star anise
2 C. beef broth
1 Knorr beef cube
1/4 t. black pepper
salt, if needed
1/4 C. cornstarch diluted in 1/4 C. water

Boil the beef until tender. Drain and set aside the broth.
Saute ginger, onions and garlic in oil until fragrant and onion is transluscent.
Add the boiled beef cubes and saute for a few minutes.
Add the soy sauce and Knorr beef cube.
Let it boil then add the broth, sugar and anise.  Simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Season with pepper and salt, if needed.
Remove from heat and thicken with cornstarch slurry then return to the stove.
Cook until sauce is slighty thick.
Garnish with chopped spring onions and toasted garlic.

Tricia said to serve with sili, calamansi and soy sauce.

Eat it with garlic rice!

I will use the beef pares as topping for the Beef mami I have yet to cook.
