On a Full Stomach

Ohhhhhh my "belly" big stomach! I have been eating the whole day and night!

I had lunch with my Senior friends at Bizu, Greenbelt today.

Tita Mita ordered the Eggs Benedict.

Hmmmm which one looks better? Bizu's(pan de sal) or my version (English Muffin)?

PD ordered the Duck Confit.

I have not eaten it before so I tried it.

It tasted like Crispy Pata!

I think I can do a version with orange sauce on the side instead of vinegar dip!

Something to think about.... Hmmmmm.

Tita Josie and I both ordered Clam Chowder.

I did not like anything from the Menu, not my kind of food, so I just had the soup.

Tita Butchie had the pasta dish.

I went to Manila Medical Center after lunch to visit Jing who will undergo surgery tomorrow at 8:00.

She shattered her elbow when she fell from an antique rocking chair, a freak accident. The surgeon will put steel pins.

Jing is blessed with a very loving husband, Sherman.

Service deluxe! He would cut her food and feed her, help her with her bath and a whole lot more!

Mayette brought adobo to the hospital for Sherman but I was so hungry I ate some of his food with a little rice!

I had to rush back to Makati. The Junkies and I were supposed to eat at 8 Cuts Burger but it was not open yet to the public! We had dinner at Franco's instead.

Tricia ordered the Sisig Angus Beef Baguette.

Shey had the Gambas and rice.

I ate the Shrimp Po' Boy.

We had coffee, dessert and snacks at Apartment 1 B.

Shoestring Fries

Flavored Popcorn

Dessert was Frozen Pie.

Cat was able to join us after dinner!!!

Too bad we were so busy talking we forgot to take a group picture :(

Ohhhhhh my very full tummy!

I had to show Shey how tight my pants were.

I'm still officially on a "diet".

But...... Diet on a full stomach?

Dinner at 1:11 am

I just had my dinner a few minutes ago!

Pizza Pan Sal!

It makes sense that dinner was at 1:11 am because I had breakfast at 1:11 pm!

I did not realize it would take so loooong to cook the longganisa!

I had it simmering in the skillet for over an hour!

At least, it was cooked through and through and no burn residue in the skillet.

I am so happy I know how to make my favorite Pizza Sauce already!

I bought the Del Monte Sweet Pizza Sauce but it was not sweet enough for me!

I had to add lots of sugar and tomato ketchup!

Then..... It was perfect!

I love the chipipay kind of pizza! Never did like the Italian style, except the Shrimp Pizza at Two Seasons in Boracay.

Ohhhhhhh I felt so bad this afternoon. I was baking Chocolate Chip Cookies with 72% Ghana Dark Chocolates, walnuts and pecans. As I was about to remove the cookie sheet from the oven, my carpal tunnel syndrome acted up and I dropped the sheet. I could see the cookies sliding down but could not do anything about it. They all slid down on the open door of the oven, at least not on the floor!

They look so ugly!!!!!

But never mind, they were delicious if I may say so!

Hahahahahaha! I always forget my mom's reminder that I should never compliment my own cooking.

Up to now I still do not understand why not?!?!

My Imaginary Restaurant

Where does your imagination take you?

Mine revolves around food as usual.

I would often imagine myself cooking in my own restaurant... depending on what my culinary mood is at the moment.

Lia's Ramen House

Tempura Ramen

I just used my Korean Noodle soup but had to add water, sugar and Kikkoman.

I was going to make salad tonight but used the shrimps for Tempura instead.

Lia's Korean Grill

Samgyeopsal

That was my healthy dinner last night.

Lia's Sandwich Deli Shop

Ham Croissant Sandwich

Lia's Thai Kitchen

Pad Thai

Lia's Chinese Resto

Beef with Broccoli

Fried Rice

Cooking for me is like playing even though I am an adult already.

When we were children we used to imagine what we would like to be when we grow up.

Some played with guns and they ended up as soldiers or policemen. The kids who played with medical toys became doctors, etc.... You get the idea?

As far as I can remember ... My toys were mostly stove, frying pan, syanse, plates, cutlery and I would use M&M's for "cooking".

No fake food for me! What's the use of cooking if I cannot eat?????

How about you? Where does your imagination take you?

Eggs Benedict at The Bed and Brunch

I had the Junkies (except Tricia because of an important errand) over at The Bed and Brunch - my imaginary breakfast establishment.

We had Eggs Benedict!

Yes! It was my first time to cook it. I had to practice poaching eggs several times.

Split toasted English Muffin

Smoked Maple Ham

Poached Egg

Hollandaise Sauce

The Hollaidaise Sauce was just a breeze to make. Even Cat helped! The recipe Tricia shared was so easy by Tyler Florence.

Hollandaise Sauce

4 egg yolks

1 T. Lemon juice

1 stick of unsalted butter, melted

Pinch of salt

In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks and lemon juice until slightly thick.

Place the bowl over a pan of simmering water but be careful not to let it touch the surface of the water.

Gradually add the melted butter and continue whisking until slightly thick and pourable in consistency.

Season with a pinch of salt.

I had to research and watch videos online for several days on how to cook eggs benedict.

Jaime Oliver said that the yolk of the poached egg should be runny.

I think I passed the Eggs Benedict course!

I also baked Angel Buttermilk biscuits and the bacon Shey brought for breakfast.

See how straight the bacon slices are?????

Put the bacon on a baking sheet without overlapping and place it at the bottom rack in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 400F.

Bake until brown and crispy taking care not to burn the bacon. Drain on paper towels immediately.

Cat brought fruits!

I am very happy with my accomplishment. I hope my guests enjoyed their breakfast also!

And..... my next food experiment is.........

Goal and Dream

What is the difference between a goal and a dream?

My goal is to look like this again....

This was taken 4 years ago when I was just starting my blog.

Hahahaha I think my blog made me fatter!

I have been cutting out rice from my diet lately and just started my exercise regimen last night!

5.2 Kms.!!! Woo hooo!!!

A goal is something one wants to achieve and takes steps for it to happen.

A dream.....

I have always wanted to open my own Bed and Breakfast.

But..... I have to be realistic. I can never wake up early enough to have breakfast. So, it will just remain a dream.

I have another option though, instead of Bed and Breakfast....

I can have an establishment called....

The Bed and Brunch!

I really loved the bread in Boracay.

I thought it was whole wheat bread but the one I bought was not the same!

The Boracay bread was darker in color and sweeter!

I tried buying rye bread....

Still not the same.

I have been practicing my egg poaching skills.

Experiment #1 - egg was too flat

Experiment # 2 and 3 (eggs under the sauce)

Tricia L. Taught me how to make Hollandaise sauce. It was sooooooo easy!!!!

I plan to make Eggs Benedict for my Junkie friends.... Soon! Very soon!

Experiment #4 - it was a little overcooked.

Experiment # 5- I think the yolk was perfectly runny.

I am ready for the Junkies!

Hollandaise Sauce - checked

Poached eggs - checked

English Muffins - will buy in SM or Japanese Bakery on Jupiter

Smoked Maple Ham - will buy in Rustan's

Chives - I already have it in my vegetable crisper.

Junkies!!!! Do we have a date on Friday?!?!

Buttermilk Angel Biscuits

I surfed the web for a recipe of angel biscuits and found one from the Cirble B website.

So easy to make! You don't even need a mixer!

My brunch this morning.... 2 eggs - sunny side up, 4 rashers of bacon and biscuits!

I should buy the breakfast sausage patties at S & R so I can make mini sausage Mc muffins!
