Gilly's 16th Birthday

Gilly turned 16 several days ago.

Her special request was.....

Pancit Bihon!

I could cook almost anything but that was her special request.

MY special request was Fried Chicken!

I experimented with a marinade. It still wasn't what I was looking for in terms of taste.

It means..... More R&D!

Beef Kalitiran Lengua Style.

I enjoy cooking it but I don't eat it.

Mashed Potatoes.

My family loves mashed potatoes.

Dessert was Mango Cheesecake!

Ate ordered it from Holiday Inn.

I asked Kuya to buy everybody's favorite ice cream, Pistachio.

Gilly is so grown up already!

I remember when she was about 2 years, whenever she would enter our house, I would tell her, "Gilly! Kiss Wriggly!"

Hahahahahahah She would bend down and kiss Wriggly on the lips!

Gone were those days.

Happy birthday, Gilly!

 

Calderon

There was a food tasting event last night at Calderon, owned by Monchet and several other partners.

Chef Bambi and Tricia asked him if I could tag along since it was a blogger's night.

The specialty of the restaurant is Spanish food cooked the way our grandmothers used to do it.

Calderon has new dishes and I was able to try all of it.

Sopa de Tomate, it was one of my favorites! I am a soup person.

Bocadillos (Sandwiches)

El Cubano, roasted pork with mustard and dill pickles in between buttery crusty bread.

Bocadillo de Chorizo y Huevos

Loved this sandwich! I am thinking this is what I would love to have for breakfast all the time.

Ok!!! Not all the time but when I am off my diet.

Bocadillo de Jamon, Manchego y Pimiento

Crusty buttery baguette with manchego cheese, ham, pimiento and olives.

Arroz Chorizo

I had several servings of this dish. I especially enjoyed each forkful with the red pepper.

Monchet said to break the yolks so it is runny. Rotos means broken.

Calderon has several branches:

2. Classica Condominium, H.V. Dela Costa St. Salcedo Village, Makati

3. East Capitol Drive, Barrio Kapitolyo, Pasig

My friends asked me what other food they serve at Calderon. I took a picture of the menu so they could see.

We will probably go to their Makati branch since it is nearer.

The food platters were delivered to our table non-stop! I was afraid to eat a lot of one dish because I might lack space in my stomach and won't be able to try the rest.

I even told Tricia that I was going to wear an eating dress.

Pop Goes The World

Pop Goes The World is part of the soundtrack of Music and Lyrics.

In my imagination, it should be, Pop Goes My Waistline!

I've been eating so much carbs and sugar! I belong to a No/Low Carb group and one of the members said that he noticed lately that I have fallen off the wagon. Again!

He said, it should be a lifelong diet!

I really, really want it to be my lifelong diet but I am weak!!!

Yesterday, my friends and I went to Manila Memorial to visit our relatives. Would you believe, Mona, Jing and I are just 200 meters away from each other!?!

From my Mom's grave site, I could wave at Mona and from her Grandfather's area, we could see Jing's!

After the visit, we all went to Little Quiapo on Aguirre Ave. in BF with Corry and Tita Cena.

I love their Palabok in Little Quiapo! Huge serving! A whole plateful!

They also ordered Arroz Caldo with Century egg.

Tokwa con Tokwa.

Jing and I shared in an order of Tokwa't Baboy! Big chunks of pork!!!!

My Mais con Yelo had ice cream.

Jing's Mango shake had ice cream as well!

Mona and I spent our late afternoon with Dodai at her apartment. We missed hanging out with her.

Alex and Dodai invited us for dinner at Malcolm's.

I ordered the Cheesesteak.

Mona had the Wings and Fries.

Dodai ordered the steak and eggs while Alex ate the corned beef with garlic ice, eggs and onion hash!!!

Thank you so much for the dinner, Alex and Dodai!

Dessert was at Bingsu-Korean Shaved Ice dessert place.

Mona, Alex and I had the Mango Bingsu.

Dodai had the one with the berries and cheese cake.

To add to the popping of the waistline, late lunch today at Mann Hann in Megamall!

I enjoyed the food in their Megamall branch. In my opinion, it tastes better than their branch in Century Mall.

Passion For Cooking

"I am invited for dinner by a lady who has so much passion for cooking!"

One my my guests tonight, Tita Baby, told her daughter where she was going.

This was our post KST dinner together with Tita Corret and Tita Evelyn who was partner for this year.

Mona, Shey and Tricia were also my guests.

Too bad Tita Ope and Cat could not join us. I'm glad that Mia was able to enjoy my cooking as well.

When I was buying the oxtail at S&R last Sunday, I noticed that it was skinless!!! I asked the lady beside me who got 4 packs if it was a good cut and she said, "Yes! Look, there is no skin! Who wants to eat fat anyway?!?!"

Ummmm.... I do!!!

The request of Tita Evelyn was Binagoongan Baboy.

I also cooked chicken Adobo, the usual partner of Kare Kare.

Mangoes with Nova Villa Bagoong.

Tita Baby brought vegetable samosas with tamarind sauce!

It was sooooo good! The crust was so flaky and not greasy at all! She accepts orders! You may email me for more details.

Tita Evelyn brought suman from Lipa! She always bring some to the US whenever she visits her children.

I asked Mona to make Buko Pandan Salad.

That is her new product. Let me know if you want to order from her. It is 650/half gallon.

I really enjoy cooking and feeding my friends. It is how I show my love to my favorite people.

Hmmmm I wonder what I will cook next and whom to feed?
