Birthday Brunch with Friends

I started my series of birthday celebrations today with my friends!

I have been planning this brunch as early as April. People would ask me, "Why brunch?"

Because breakfast food is one of my favorites and the fact that I want a different theme this year.

Hermie and I set the table last night.

An uninvited guest wanted to attend my brunch!

We were not finished setting the table yet. He was checking out all the chairs and he would have jumped on top of the table! Good thing I caught him before he messed up our setting.

Pancakes

Crispy Bacon

The secret to crunchy straight bacon slices.... bake them in the oven.

Jing was sooooo bad! She dipped the pan de sal in bacon grease.

OMG!!!! I forgot to tell Yaya Hermie to keep all the bacon drippings and fat!

I loved the pancake with whipped butter and mango cubes... Topped with a dollop of whipped cream and drizzled with Aunt Jemima syrup! The best!!!!!

Fairy Godmother Cindy and "Ninong" Richard. It was fairy godmother who gave me several bottles of Aunt Jemima Syrup for my birthday brunch!

My new Ninong gave me Oreo with Chocolate filling!

Tita Letty, Tita Dely, Nolan, Sol and Bea joined us for coffee and dessert.

I am so happy I have a birthday cake!

I was supposed to bake Chocolate Cake but I did not have time anymore. It would have been too sad if my friends did not sing "Happy Birthday To You" and if I did not blow out the candle!

Happy 85th Birthday, Tita Dely!!!

Tita Dely invited me to her 85th birthday celebration at Nolan's and Sol's house today.

She is the Tita of Mayette and we always visit her whenever we go to Balanga, Bataan.

The star of the party was the Lechon!

And the "starlet" was the crabs from Bataan!

We also had Chicharon Bituka....

I only concentrated on the Lechon.... With lots of crispy skin!

Hahahaha Too bad I poured a lot of sauce, the skin was not too visible but I assure you... There were several layers on top of each other.

OMG!!!!! The aligue was to die for!

3 inches high of heart stopping yummy goodness!

I only got half a crab because I do know how to be cautious in terms of food high in cholesterol. I had to admit, I got a little dizzy. Good thing, there was pineapple juice. I was able to "dilute" the fat.

In my imagination, the pineapple juice served as the "declogger".

Tita Dely was serenaded by Kz. Nolan accompanied her on the piano.

I am so glad we, Mona, Mon and I, were invited! I feel so special!

Sherman's Dinner Treat

Sherman is home! Jing is not the only one who is happy..... We all are!

He treated us for dinner at Wee Nam Kee, Glorietta.

We ordered our favorite....

We had dessert at their Suite at Intercontinental Manila. Their family was chosen as guest for the day!

We bought coffee and pastries at Starbucks across the hotel.

They say my eyes sparkle whenever I eat something I like.

Puring's Bulakena Live Chicken

They said, once you've tried the live chicken in Farmer's, you will never eat grocery bought frozen chicken ever again.

Tita Des, mom of Lisa, recommended Puring's to me.

She told me to tell the vendor she is my Tita. I went to Farmer's Market today and introduced myself to the people at the chicken stall.

I just cooked Pesang Manok with lots of fresh ginger, onions, peppercorn and salt.

They were not lying! I even had two servings! The broth was very flavorful and the meat was falling off the bones! I did not even have to add bouillon cube or MSG!

My dipping sauce was patis, kalamansi and red chili pepper!

I will always buy from Puring's Bulakena from now on whenever I get the opportunity.

Super worth it!

My Birthday Food Wish List

I have several items on my birthday food wish list and I plan to eat everything on it this August.

One of them is....Talangka!

I went to Farmer's today and was very lucky because my seafood vendor had it.

Another early birthday present was delivered today!

The rest of my Aunt Jemima syrup from my "fairy godmother". She already gave me one bottle when she came back from the US.

I tried the chocolate cake from Cake Avenue.... Day 3 of my chocolate cake obsession!

A lot of people have been warning me to take it easy and not celebrate my birthday everyday!

It has been suggested by one of my Senior KST friends that instead of indulging everyday, I should just save the money and send a kid to school! She even said I should stop eating Lechon because it is bad for my health. She said to just eat "Misua" on my birthday!

Ohhhh NO!!!!! NO! NO! I already have a lot of birthday lunches and dinners scheduled! I am even going to Cebu this month to eat Lechon everyday!

I will just go on a diet again this September :) Promise! Promise! Promise!

It's My Birthmonth!

Happy Birthday, Lia everyday!

Most of my friends and readers of my blog know that I celebrate my birthday everyday for the whole month of August!

Much to my detriment in terms of waistline and blood sugar!

I have been craving for chocolate cake for days! I even went to Rockwell the other night to buy a slice.

I am actually looking for the old-fashioned chocolate fudge cake. Remember the Cookie Monster Chocolate Cake with the yellow filling?

I can actually bake one but I'm too lazy plus I might eat the whole cake!

I know the Chocolate Cake of Starbucks is one of the best!

I was very happy when I went to the Glorietta 5 branch with Shey and Mona after KST yesterday because it was available.

I could not wait to eat my cake.... I was super excited.... While waiting for our ride.... I opened the box....

Only to find out..... The slice of cake was too small!

It used to be bigger!

The feeling was like somebody pricked my balloon with a needle!

But then.....

Ohhhhhhh it was very delish!

Hahahaha heavenly! It was not too sweet.

That brought a smile and a certain sparkle to my eyes.
