Bad! Bad! Bad! Lia!!

I went to Landmark Supermarket and became very, very bad!

You can now buy the Chicharabao at Landmark, Makati!

I got the Hot and Spicy and Onion and Vinegar.

I will serve it to my Canadian balikbayan friends on Wednesday.

I was checking out the chocolate aisle when I saw this pack of Peanut Butter Snickers!!!

I know it is so bad for me but I just have to try it!

A little bit too sweet for me but it will not stop me from hiding it from everybody! Hehehe!

Happy Birthday, Tita Josie!!!

We celebrated the birthday of Tita Josie Yao today at Hai Shin Lou, Pasay Road.  I was with my Senior Citizen friends.

L-R: PD, Tess Colayco, Josie Yao, Lia, Mita Ampil and Butchie Ayuyao
Tita Josie's birthday is not complete without Peking Duck!!!

Beautiful!!!!
In the previous years, she has always treated us at Peking Garden, but the duck at Hai Shin Lou today was also good.

Had it cooked 2-ways.

Wintermelon with Dried Scallops Soup

We also had a shrimp dish ...... for Tita Mita who does not eat Peking Duck and other seafood dishes.  If I have to guess.... I think it was .... Prawns with Sweet and Chili Sauce.

Seafood Home Made Beancurd in Hot Casserole

Watercress with Crabmeat

Beef Hofan

Fried Rice

and .... home made Tauho for dessert.

We always enjoy our get-together.  We have not seen each other in a while!!!!  Lots of stories and "chismis".
We already set the date for the next lunch!!!

Thanks Tita Josie for the Birthday Lunch treat!!!!

Happy Birthday, Kiel and Joy!

There was an impromptu pre-birthday celebration tonight.  Joy just got home from Davao this morning and decided to have a small gathering with friends and family.  It was also the birthday of Kiel, her son, last November 16.

I got a very nice text message this morning from Mayette!  She said there was going to be lechon!  I already felt bad I was not able to attend the 7th birthday party of Lance, her other nephew, yesterday.  There was also Lechon and crabs.

I was not feeling well this morning so I drank liters and liters of water to flush out the salt from my body which is one of the causes of vertigo.    I could not drive yet so I took a cab all the way to Pasig!!!  I did not want to miss the dinner this time around.

Ohhhh I was not disappointed! The little pig was so plump and crunchy!!!!

I got about a quarter-of-a-sheet size of lechon skin and ate the ribs to my heart's delight.  I did not eat the meat, just my favorite parts.

Mayette cooked this very delicious spareribs and then she grilled it!

I did not eat much of the lechon because I also concentrated on her ribs.

Tita Letty made Lasagna.

Noy, their cook, taught me how to make shells with Tausi.

There was also grilled boneless bangus....

grilled oysters....

Ohhhh and I have to try this at home ... Mayette's Lechon Manok with fresh tamarind and tamarind leaves!

The meat was so juicy and tender!!!

There was Chicharon Bituka from the lechon company.

For those who wanted healthy food ... there was green leafy salad.

Of course, that was not a resident of my plate.

Most of the X-factor kids were there .... good friends of Kiel and Bees.

Belated Happy Birthday, Kiel!!!  Happy Birthday, Joy!

Thank you, Joy, for always inviting me every time you have Lechon!!!

Manna Korean Garden

Liberation!

I have been sick as a puppy for a couple of days, but tonight, I was able to go out!  PD invited me to dinner. I told her, if I am well enough to hear mass then we can go.  Sure enough, I was able to attend the anticipated mass at Ateneo.

I felt bad because earlier, Mayette was inviting me to a Lechon and Alimango party but I could not go!!! Not because I could not eat but because it was too far for me! :((

PD and I had dinner at Manna Korean Garden on Carmen, St. near Kalayaan and P. Burgos, Makati.

We ordered the Imported Beef Bulgogi.  The waiter cooked it on the table.

We also got the grilled chicken....

and... our favorite Seafood Pancake.

Let us not forget the appetizers they give to all their customers!!!!

We had Korean ice cream for dessert.  I let PD try the Fish with Vanilla Ice Cream and Red beans while I had the Honeydew Melon ice cream bar.

I am feeling so much better now.  I hope well enough for me to be able to go to Landmark Supermarket tomorrow!

Wriggly's "new" shirt

The Wriggly Chronicles

Yaya Hermie went shopping. My neighbor (Sophie) is having a garage sale tomorrow and Hermie "bought" Wriggly several t-shirts!

Looks like he is not complaining at all!

OMG! Hermie has created a vain monster!

I let Wriggly out to take care of his business and I removed his t- shirt first. When he was done, I was calling him so we could go back to my room. Would you believe he did not want to enter my room yet and seemed like he was looking for something.

Then... It dawned on me, he wanted his shirt back on!!!

Wriggly is sooooo funny at times and acts more like a human than a canine.

Vertigo Attack

I have been experiencing dizzy spells since Wednesday in Boracay. When I took my FBS yesterday morning, it was only 74.  Before I left for my trip, my sugar was high already so I was very careful with my choice of food. I did not even drink mango shake. Nothing with wheat.

I know if a diabetic is following the wheat- free diet, said person cannot exercise until the sugar has stabilized. All we did in Boracay was swim, walk and walk!  Which explained the drop in my FBS.

I thought I would have to call Bel-Air for an ambulance service when I woke up this morning because the world was spinning again. I asked Dra. Cristina what to do and she gave me instructions. I also called up Jing because she also suffers from vertigo occasionally.  But she scolded me! Hahaha! She said, she saw all the food I ate in Boracay! I should not wonder anymore why I was feeling dizzy! The number one No-No if you are suffering from vertigo is salty food.

I felt bad because I invited friends from Canada for lunch but I could not cook so I had to reschedule.  I told them, will make it up next week.

My friends held a garage sale in my house, I could not join them, I was just a quiet spectator.  Catherine brought very delicious longanisa from Nueva Ecija, thanks to her mom-in-law, Popsie.

Everybody loved it! I could not help myself and ate a few pieces. I even sent some to PD, she normally only eats longanisa with lots of fat but even she enjoyed the lean longanisa. Really delicious! Hermie cooked it for us with garlic rice.

I also asked Hermie to cook the Pork sinigang with fresh tamarind.

I instructed her not to make it too salty. It turned out ok.

I am feeling a bit better now that I have taken a couple doses of Serc 16 mg.  Dra. Cristina said I should rest. I hope to get well soon because I am attending a Peking Duck Birthday lunch on Monday!

The Wriggly Chronicles

I almost had a heart attack today!  Since there was a garage sale, my gate was open.

I was just sitting down facing the busy activities outside when I noticed a gray animal casually strolling on the street. I thought it was a cat, but then I saw the bushy tail.

OH NO!!!!!! Wriggly!!!! To make matters worse, I could not stand up and run after him! Good thing, Mona was able to scoop him up and brought him inside the house. My greatest fear is that he might get run over by a car because our house is very near the exit gate of Bel-Air.

My baby probably got tired from all the activities and had a restful afternoon nap even though we were very noisy.
