Dimsum Break is now in Manila!!!

One of the reasons why I always go to Cebu is to eat the Bacon Wrapped Sio Mai at Harbour City.  Dimsum Break is also owned by the same company, it is their "fastfood" outlet.  So, when my Ate told me they recently opened a branch in Manila, I had to check online for the location.

Dimsum Break is in SM North Annex!

Mona and I trekked all the way to Q.C.

I ordered all kinds of siomai and more ....

Bacon Wrapped Sio Mai

Shrimp Sio Mai

Quail Egg Sio Mai

Sweet and Sour Pork

Mona treated me to a basket of Chicken Feet

and

we shared a serving of Deep Fried Taro Puff which they just cooked upon order.

Other dim sums were already on food shelves

or ... steaming in their baskets.

I am glad I do not have to go all the way to Cebu to eat the Bacon Wrapped Sio Mai.

Another specialty they have is the Steamed Fried Rice but since I am on a NO/LOW Carb diet, I could not eat it.

We crossed to Trinoma and checked out what they have in Landmark Supermarket.

OHHHHH  LOOOOOOOK!!!!!

This is the kind of chicharon that I LOVE!!!!

Airy chicharon!

I do not like any other kind.

Mayette told me that is Chicharon made from Carabao skin.  I could have finished the whole pack!!!!  BUTTTTT.... I had to share with PD and Mona.  Hahahahaha!  I could smell the resentment a mile away!!!!  Will just have to hide next time.

I also have a new favorite chocolate.  I used to love Toblerone but now I discovered the brand, FREY.  It is made in Switzerland but half the cost of Toblerone.

I know I am NOT allowed to eat chocolates but if I am going to cheat .... I would cheat with Frey.  I have yet to try the Dark Chocolate Orange flavor.

Over the weekend.....

I have been so busy the whole weekend so I will just lump all my posts in one entry.

Saturday is the day my family usually have lunch in my house.  I am on a diet so I did not cook anything elaborate for us.

I thought everybody would be happy with Lechon Kawali!  Especially PD with the chunks of fat!

We should always have soup for Gilly .... For a change, instead of Pancit Molo, I cooked Wanton Soup.

I wanted to put spring onions .... but NO!!! Cannot be, the kids do not like.

I blanched the vegetables for my Ate and I.

The rest of the family thinks the greens are just decoration.

The Ginataang Langka was reheated, just in case, somebody wanted to try it.

My brother-in-law is in search for a good Brazo de Mercedes.

We got half a loaf from my tenant, Cake Avenue.  We will try a different bakeshop every week.

There was fresh cantaloupe from my Kuya.

Last night, PD and I were invited by her friend and we had dinner at Bulgogi Brothers, Greenbelt 5.

Lots of freebies... and you can ask for as much as you like.

I cannot recall the Korean names of the dishes... but we got Beef and Vegetables with Sweet Sauce...

And the Spareribs....

Barbecue dipping sauce... Sweet, Salty, Spicy

My dessert was the Dark Chocolate water-based gelato at Ti Amo .... It may be dairy free but it sure was not sugar free!!!

When I woke up this morning, my FBS was 158!!!!!

I have been suffering from my asthma allergy, lately.  I should have gone to Dr. Manuel Canlas for my bi-monthly anti-allergy injection but I did not have time.  I also ran out of Ilog Maria's Bee Propolis.

Good thing, my classmate, Beth said I can buy at any ECHOSTORE branch.

I opted to go to Podium instead of Serendra because I have not been to Megamall in a while.

I think it is only psychological, but I feel that I am stronger with the Bee Propolis.  Instead of taking a multi-vitamin, which was prescribed by Dr. Manalo, I would rather  have a dose of the probiotic everyday.  I also feel it helps in lowering the blood sugar.

My plan was just to eat the JUMBO sio mai at Masuki.  I ordered 3 pcs.

On my way to Podium, I passed through St. Francis Square and what did I see????

Nathaniel's!!!!!  I love Nathaniel's!

Their original branch is at San Fernando, Pampanga.  They also have another one in QC and they are about to open at Mollito in Alabang.  Good thing I do not have to ask Mona to buy me the goodies anymore from the Alabang Branch.  I can buy it anytime in Mandaluyong.

A lot of people love their Buko Pandan dessert.

They also sell puto pao with pork or chicken filling, topped with a slice of red-egg.

Different Filipino delicacies.

After eating the Jumbo Sio Mai, I ate again .....

Nathaniel's sio mai!!!!

I tried the Buko Pandan drink.

I am already on Day 4 of being rice-less!!!  I did not have a hard time! Well ... I make sure I do not cook or eat food which I cannot eat without rice!

My dinner was just Santis' Hungarian Sausage with Cheese.... 1 pc. of boiled saba banana and an apple.

So far.... so good!  I did not have a yen to eat rice with my food.  I do not want to weigh myself yet.  I will give it about 2 weeks.  Although .... yesterday ... my shorts which used to be a bit tight, dropped to the floor when I got home!  So.... we will see how this plays out.

Double 007 Date with Jing

I do not usually watch movies but Jing and I made plans several months ago to see the new James Bond flick.

I do not know if it is just my imagination........ but her youngest son, Michael, reminds me of Daniel Craig (got the pictures online).

Is Ninang right???? Or just trying to see something that is not really there????

Hahahaha! Jing!!! Did you have a tryst with Daniel when you were living in the UK????

I truly loved "Skyfall".  It is not your usual gadget heavy Bond film but more of a back to the basics 007 one.

We ate merienda at the new Boon Tong Kee Restaurant at Powerplant, Rockwell.

They specialize in Singaporean food.

Since today was the first day of our restrictive lifestyle .... we only ordered the....

Boiled Chicken, what we normally refer to as Hainanese Chicken.

Chili, Ginger and Dark Soy Sauce

Poached Spinach with 3 Kinds of Eggs.

I have survived Day 1 of not eating carbs.

Sausage and eggs for brunch ....

Salad with Orange and SPAM for dinner.

I also had 1 cup of caffeinated coffee.  I hope I will be able to sleep tonight!!!

Wheatless .... what's next?

I recently read a blogpost of Dr. Davis:  I lost the wheat, but didn't lose weight.

I thought I was the only one experiencing it.  I am already wheatless, well almost, but my weight loss have stalled at 11 lbs.

I have already proven that eliminating wheat will normalize your blood work, but I cannot proudly say that losing the wheat has been effective in weight loss.  Maybe for most, it was effective but not for some people with abnormalities in the way they process food.

Dr. Davis said I have to "lose the carbohydrates".

Jing and I have decided that starting today, November 1, we will eliminate carbohydrates.  JING!!!  Eliminate not reduce, OK????  I do not know how long I will be able to sustain it but I will do my very best.

It will be a psychological exercise.  It is not really hard to remove rice from my diet because I only eat 1/2 C. to 1 C. of rice a day ... so I feel ... it is not such a deprivation physically .... but on the psychological and emotional aspect..... it is a monumental task!!!!!

I just need to be more creative in my food choices.

I do so want to prove that the theories of Dr. Davis are absolutely correct.

I know I can do this but it will be so hard.  I just have to focus harder.

It is a good thing, before November 1, I already ate most of the carb laden foods.  One of the best tip I can give people who are about to embark on a lifestyle change is to eat all the food that will surely give them a craving when they go on a diet. Hahahaha! But do not do this forever!  Just a week before is enough.

So..... November 1 is day 1.   Crossing my fingers .... hope this works for me!!!  Just the thought it is not forever is enough to sustain me.

* Dr. Davis also said to eliminate dairy.  That is easy because even though I love milk very much, I am lactose intolerant.  One time I bought a liter of fresh milk from the grocery and that same night I had the most painful abdominal cramps.  It was as though, someone was wringing my intestines.

Cheese ... I am not a fan.  Except cheese curls!!!  And Cheese flavored potato chips.  But cheese in my food?  I do not like.

* Dr. Davis also recommends 2-3 cups of caffeinated coffee a day!  Yikes!  I have to get used to it!

* He said, to also "revel in fats and oils".  "Liberal fat intake, contrary to conventional “wisdom,” does not make you fat; it helps you get skinny. The only fats to avoid are fried (high-temperature), hydrogenated, and highly-processed polyunsaturated seed or GM oils like safflower, sunflower, grapeseed, soybean, and canola."

* Important thing to remember is to get adequate sleep.

* "Lose drugs that block weight loss".  Uh Oh ... one of the drugs that I am taking is in his list of medicines that block weight loss, Lantus.  I cannot NOT have my insulin injection.

I am about to embark on a restrictive lifestyle...... but......

Carbohydrates elimination is temporary .... just until I reach my goal.

Wheat elimination is a lifestyle change... it is forever.

"Shi-Lin" with Sharmaine

I met with Jing and Sharmaine at Powerplant, Rockwell yesterday.

Sharmaine is the niece of her husband who is vacationing here in Manila for the semestral break.

She is a college student from Bicol.

We had merienda at Shi-Lin.

We all shared an order of .....

Pork and Shrimp Siomai

and

Sio Long Bao.

Hahahaha! Normally, PD and I would order 1 basket each.

I had a bowl of hot and sour soup.

Jing and Sharmaine ordered Pork and Wanton Noodle soup

and ... Pork Buns.

It was nice meeting Sharmaine.  I hope she has a lot of stories to take back home.
